A trio of adders.

A trip to Laughton forest again to see the adders, this time only six were seen but they were still posing for photos with no fear, four buzzards were in the air and a woodlark was singing, quite a pleasant morning.

Laughton forest.

Sun. 7-3-10.

My first trip to Laughton forest this year to search for adders. 10 adders were seen basking themselves in the warm sunshine, all of them males, posing splendidly for the camera. Woodlarks were singing and a woodcock was flushed from the forest floor, but the biggest surprise was a red kite soaring high in the sky north east of the forest, a very enjoyable morning. In the afternoon i visited Worlaby carrs still beautiful sunshine but cold, a short eared and barn owl were seen along with a little egret, buzzard and sparrowhawk.

Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head. 25-10-09.

Went to Bempton cliffs today hoping to see the red flanked bluetail, it showed earlier in the morning but by the time arrived at 9.10 it was not showing, however i did see the red backed shrike. I then drove the short distance to Flamborough Head for a visit, very quiet but i did find a pair of purple sandpipers feeding among the rock pools. I went back to Bempton cliffs only to find i had missed the bluetail again and then it showed again at 3.30 when i was on my way home, so some good birds but the star attraction i missed.

Pink foots over Broughton.

A group of 70 pink footed geese flying over Broughton on 18-10-09.

Black darter. Crowle moor. 22-8-09.

A super sunny day today tempted me to visit Crowle moor NR in Lincs. Black darters everywhere.

Black darter. Crowle moor. 22-8-09.

A pair of black darters mating. Many of these in tandem today, and very numerous today at Crowle moor.

Spiked shieldbug. Crowle moor. 22-8-09.

A spiked shieldbug slowly walks down a grass stem. You can see its rostrum which is its mouthpart, being similar to a needle of a syringe.
